The Kathina Ceremony originated in the Buddha Time because the Lord Buddha saw the importance of changing the monks’ old saffron robes so he gave the permission that each monk could change his old saffron robe. Then, it becomes the tradition that has been done for over 2,000 years.

Kathina Robe Offering is a wonderful Buddhist tradition that has been preserved for over 2500 years since the Lord Buddha’s time.
I’d like to ask you about an old tradition of Thai society that urges children to prostrate themselves at their parents’ feet before going to bed. How does this tradition help develop children’s virtue? If the people of the present time would like to reintroduce that tradition, where can they begin?
Kathina is a special event to accumulate tremendous merits that Buddhists eagerly look forward to each year. It is one of the more difficult merits to perform as compared to other merits due to the following reasons.
