Topic : could it be real in 2012?
This article is about a 2009 science fiction apocalyptic disaster film based loosely on the 2012 phenomenon and directed by Roland Emmerich. The film stars John Cusack, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Amanda Peet, Oliver Platt, Danny Glover, Thandie Newton, and Woody Harrelson. It was distributed by Columbia Pictures. There are some concepts that, I disagree with in this movie which can be clarified as follows.
Firstly, the story comes from the Mayan who predicted that the end of the world would occur on December 21, 2010. This was supported by the transmitted calendar that has not been proved yet so, this movie is based on solely of these old stuffs. Therefore, it is not certain whether the disaster would happen in 2012 or not.
Secondly, the purpose of this movie, in my point of view, is to encourage the audiences to realize the effects of natural disaster such as flooding and earthquake. In the movie, these disasters happen suddenly but, normally, natural disaster will gradually happen. Also, scientists still haven't got any information that the movie mentioned. So, I don't think that this phenomena will occur in 2012 as referred in the movie.
Finally, some groups of people might be misled to suicide or feel anxious due to the fact that they are afraid of these predicted disasters. Therefore viewers should use critical ideas to jude the film. They should not tall into the trap of worry or anuiety.
In conclusion, referring to this movie, I do not agree with the writers and director about the ideas in the movie. Because this could cause worldwide fear and this world could be haulted in fear which causes despairs, suicide. However, these disasters would not happen in these few years so we should not be panic, Instead, We should do our best today. What do you think about this issue?
