The Dhutanga of inviting relics in the downtown of Chiang Mai province
Over 500 monks walked to invite the relics in the downtown of Chiang Mai province before the relics will be invited to establish in the top of Chedi Noi Doi Sawan (the Little Heaven Peak Cetiya) in Wat Mae Khing on April 14th, 2014.
On April 9th, 2014 at Wat Phrasingvoramahavihara in Muang district, Chiang Mai province, over 500 monks walked to invite the relics around the downtown of Chiang Mai province for Buddhists and foreigners to worship. The Most Ven. Phrathepkoson, the Ecclesiastical Provincial Governor of Chiang Mai and Abbot of Wat Srisoda, kindly walked to lead the procession. Mr. Wichian Putthiwinyu, Chiang Mai governor, honored to welcome the Dhutanga monks.
They began the procession at Wat Phrasingvoramahavihara. They left the temple and walked along Samlan Road, went to the moating road, passed Bamrungsri Road and Chiang Mai Gate Market, walked through Moonmuang Road and passed Thapae Gate T-Junction, Sompetch Market, Chang Moi Road, Waroros Market, Tonlamyai Market, Thapae Road, Rajdamnuen Road and stopped walking temporarily at Wat Chedi Luang Voravihara. The total distance is 6.3 km. Along the way above, lots of the congregations and foreigner tourists were interested and came to welcome the Dhutanga monks together.
On Monday April 14th, 2014 or a Buddhist Monk Day (the 15th Full Moon Day of the 5th Lunar Month), they will continue performing the relic invitation to establish at the top of Chedi Noi Doi Sawan in Wat Mae Khing, Om Koi district, Chiang Mai province.
