ถ้าใจของเราแต่เดิมใสเหมือนพลาสติก ทันทีที่อนุโมทนาบุญ ใจจะใสขึ้น ใสเหมือนกระจกเลย ถ้าเดิมใจใสเหมือนกระจก พออนุโมทนาบุญเสร็จ ใจจะยิ่งใสขึ้น ใสเป็นเพชรเลยทีเดียว

กาลครั้งนั้นเมื่อสมเด็จพระบรมศาสดาเสด็จมาประทับยังพระเชตวันมหาวิหารกรุงสาวัตถี พระองค์ได้หยั่งรู้ถึงความทุกข์กายทุกข์ใจของภิกษุผู้บำเพ็ญเพียรรูปหนึ่งที่ไม่อาจแสวงหาโลกธรรมได้ สมเด็จพระสัมมาสัมพุทธเจ้าทรงโปรดให้ทุกข์นั้นบรรเทาลง
