The Naga
People were actively waiting to prove or watch the supernatural power of Phu Auelue, a naga living in the Bungkhonglong Swamp, Bungkhonglong district, Bungkarn province.  This swamp is 2 km wide and 13 km long.  Thousands of people booked their space for watching this naga since the dawn.  Hotels and stores had booked for service and the expected cash flow was over 10 million Baht.  The traffic was jam and schools in municipality had to close in the afternoon.

At 7:00 a.m. on August 19th, 2011, the sky was still dark and cloudy; the rain drizzled for a while. After the rain stopped, the local residents and visitors brought their mats to the court and yard in the park of Bungkhonglong municipality to book the seat for the best viewpoint.  They wanted to see “Phu Auelue, the Naga” with their plain eyes because there was a talk of the town that Pol. Col. Chayarop Saichanyont, superintendent of Bungkhonglong police station, had dreamed of “Phu Auelue, the Naga” and it told him that it would swim, show his red crest and spout the water in the swamp.  Because of his dream and the talk of the town, people gathered crowdedly at the court and yard. The police stations, the government offices, markets, Bungkhonglong Vittayakhom School, Bungkhong Vittaya School and the road shoulders in the municipality were full of cars.  The officials and officers had to get more security guards, volunteers, and traffic police for serving the people and visitors.

Pol. Col. Chayarop unveiled that there were many people, presses and his friends calling to ask him whether Phu Auelue, the Naga would appear or not. He told them that the naga appeared every time he dreamed of.  He never disappointed for the past 4 times and for the 5th time, the naga told him that the naga would blow the water up besides of showing his red crest. So it had to prove it later.

 

Mr. Chaimongkol Khattiyaraj, the director of Bungkhonglong Vittayakhom School, said that the school had to temporary close since 13:00 p.m. because there were many tour buses parking a lot in the playground and the school area.  He was afraid of the danger so he told the students to go back home before.  This was to prevent the danger and to facilitate the visitors who came to see the miracle at Bungkarn, the new province of Thailand.

The newsman reported that because the rain drizzled and stopped for a while until 16:00 p.m. so people avoided it by staying in the tents or using the umbrellas. However, some people had to stand in the rain because they did not bring their umbrellas.  All of them were waiting to prove the wonder event in the next few minutes. It was very crowded so that it was difficult to walk and there could be up to 100,000 visitors at that time which benefited the merchants there.

About the traveling to Bungkhonglong district, if you travel from Udon Thani province, you can go along the Udon–Sakol Nakorn road until you reach Phangkhon district, turn left and go along the Phangkhon–Bungkarn No. 222 Road or the Udon–Nongkai–Bungkarn–Nakorn Panom No. 212 Road from Bungkarn to the four junction of Ban Dongbang about 75 km., turn right and go along the road about 12 km.  The hotels in Bungkhonglong, Seka, and nearby districts were full. There might be a few available rooms at the hotels in Banpaeng district, Nakorn Panom province which was 25 km far away from there.  There were enough parking lots for visitors because the officials had prepared for many days.

Pol. Col. Chayarop said that after the residents and visitors had waited to see the appearance of Phu Auelue, the Naga, among the drizzling rain for many hours, at about 16:20 p.m. and 16:40 p.m. there were the phenomenon of Naga swimming in the swamp for 2 minutes each time.  It was corresponding to his dream.

 

However, this event happened among thousands of visitors, so they were enjoy very much and yelling while the naga was swimming.  Some people made a salute and said that this happening event was sacred and it was worthy for their waiting.  At this time there were still some people waiting to see it again while others went back home.  Many people unveiled that seeing the naga’s swimming for a few minutes was so great!
