Giving and forgiving is a key to making friendships and making relationships. There should be no resentment of any mistakes or misunderstandings occur in relationships.
The direction in front of us represents the relationships the relationships we have with others as a result of their giving birth to us, i.e. our parents.
The direction above us, represents the relationships we have with others as result of our spiritual vocation i.e. our spiritual mentors, monks, or priests.
The western direction, or the direction behind us, represents the relationships we have with others as a result of marrying them i.e. our spouse.
The southern direction, or the right hand direction, represents the relationships we have with our teachers as a result of their giving us education and training.
The nadir, or the direction below us, represents the relationships we have with others as a result of earning our living or as a result of being an employer.

The northern direction, or the left-hand direction, represents the relationships we have with others as a result of friendship i.e. our friends – but this also extends to more distant acquaintances that affect our lives and resources.
People like to say that going out to drink alcohol with friends is a means to strengthen unity and promote relationships. It is regarded as promoting friendship. I just wonder if the friendship amongst drinkers will last long.
The problem is that no person is a perfect exemplar of all the qualities of a True Friend. It is therefore necessary to have tactical friendship starting with those around us
